BMW WORLD has long been a major attraction in Munich. It celebrates the delivery of automobiles as an experience and creates a space for communication with visitors and customers. The winning design for the project came from the Vienna-based architectural firm Coop Himmelb(l)au. The unique architecture, together with the BMW Tower and the BMW Museum, forms an internationally renowned ensemble. Despite its expressive design, the BMW World stands as an iconic landmark, blending seamlessly with the architecture and landscape of the neighboring Olympic Park, home to the 1972 Olympic structures.
Under the "double cone" and the large "cloud" of steel and glass, a multifunctional space emerged. The building’s main purpose is the celebration of the car’s hand-over to the customer. This includes areas for vehicle delivery, storage, and preparation. Spacious lounges are available as reception and waiting areas. The vehicle pick-up is a ceremony: from the heights of the roof structure, the customers glide down an escalator to receive their new car, which majestically awaits them on a turntable.
The presentation of all BMW Group brands is also an important part of BMW World. Models and corporate philosophy are presented in separate areas adapted to the CI of each brand. The experience is completed by an event center, shops and themed restaurants.
KBP designed the technical systems for heating, ventilation, sanitation, and building automation in line with the requirements of the various uses. They accompanied the implementation on-site until the completion of the project. The technology integrates perfectly with the architecture and ensures the highest quality of experience in all areas.
