The Austrian Parliament decided to undertake a comprehensive renovation of its 130-year-old building. The goal was to repair existing damage and sustainably restore the structure. Additionally, operational, procedural, and functional enhancements were planned to ensure compliance with modern safety, fire protection, and hygiene standards.
In a Europe-wide tender process, the Vienna-based consortium Jabornegg & Palffy, in collaboration with the engineering firm AXIS, secured the contract for the renovation, estimated to cost over 300 million Euros. KBP contributed its extensive experience throughout both the competition and design phases.
As part of the overarching technical infrastructure, the renovation includes the use of renewable energy for the building's cooling system. To further enhance supply security, an additional medium-voltage power supply from a second transformer station is planned. Inside the building, the electrical supply systems will be fully designed with redundancy.
