The headquarters of Stadtwerke Regensburg / Regensburger Energie- und Wasserversorgung was housed in an office building from the early 1980s. Due to the significant renovation efforts required for the existing structure, a decision was made to construct a new building on the site.
In 2016, the Berlin-based architectural firm Gewers + Pudewill won the competition. The building's floor plan is based on a triangular shape with rounded corners. This form integrates well into the urban environment and, as a monolithic structure, creates a striking city landmark. The building’s ground floor is designed to have a representative reception area with an adjacent mailroom. The remaining floors are used for open-plan offices and individual offices. The project provides a total of around 460 workplaces.
As an energy provider, the energy-efficient design of the company headquarters is of high importance. The building’s supply of heat, cooling, and electricity is provided by external district energy systems. Heating and cooling of the usable spaces will mainly be achieved through low-temperature systems (building component activation). These systems offer maximum comfort and efficiency with minimal maintenance requirements. Fresh air is supplied via a double / hollow floor system and is centrally extracted at the cores.
